Mingo is a multi-faceted adventurer, rock, ice climber and kayaker, comfortable on rock walls, walls of ice and snow, as well as remote wilderness adventures and wild kayaking expeditions. Bear photography, wildlife and bear behavioral research and education programs are also very important to him. Through Bears Unlimited, he also conducts research expeditions pertaining to the study of global climate issues.

Mingo also writes and photographs a series of educational nature-based children's books. Attu's Adventures is a fun and educational way to explore our National Parks, other natural lands and explore historical periods, natural and physical science subjects, anthropology and many other areas of natural earth studies and children's literature. Attu's Adventures will consist of 45 books with 3 books published and 3 more nearing publication. Mingo believes “the future is not in our hands but in that of our children. Our legacy must be relating that the stewardship of land and animals is a sacred trust and must be forwarded to our children. Thus, through education of the young our mission will prosper and be carried forth after we pass from the wilderness that we desperately love and want to protect”.
